Why is Computer Service So Expensive?

Computers are one of the most versatile devices that exist.  They are so flexible that they consistently appear at almost every business or home.  Computers are used for everything from simple word processors to running nuclear power plants. Due to this fact, the computer industry changes constantly almost every day. While writing this on June 6th 2005, Apple Computers decided that after 21 years of manufacturing the Mac, to finally switch to the Intel Processor that a standard PC uses.  This means that computer techs that specialized in Macs will have a whole new architecture to learn and everything they know about Mac hardware has now become a waste of time.  Programmers will have to rewrite a large population of code for drivers and repair tools. Does that mean that every PC Tech will now have to learn Mac OSX in order to be able to say “PC Repair? Will Mac OSX overtake Windows 93% market share and become a popular operating system?

The computer business has to constantly train and research all new technology to be able to compete in the market today.  This is quite expensive with new hardware, software, books and licenses new every day.  People with the training also come with a price tag.  Even the beginners who get up to speed quickly can increase their salary range in 6 months.  If you want to keep them you have to be prepared to incur the cost.

Network Installation Computer Services, Inc. (NICS) spends a large amount of time training both new and older employees. Reading material, online educational material, software and hardware of all kinds and brands is available for training at any time.  We have three staff members that have the highest quality of skills and training to be sure that newer employees are skilled at all jobs.

For computer services, we have two different divisions of our company. QuickComputerFix is our home division. Where we are different from other repair companies is on our skills and our turn around time. Other repair companies have a 3-5 day wait time before they even LOOK AT IT!  Can you run a WEEK without your computer? No? We can’t either, so we don’t expect you too! On an average pickup we have the machine fixed the next day. We have In-Your-House/Office or we will do a Free Pickup and Delivery and fix it in our Lab. We charge $95 per hour for this service. Because our computer techs can all fall back on our corporate skills we can repair a computer faster than the other companies.

Our second division is Corporate Services.  This is where our most highly trained Specialists work on Servers, Development, and highly specialized products.  We offer many more high-end services such as Live Server Monitoring, Remote Support and Server Reporter. Server Reporter is one of a kind application written Exclusively for NICS that can tell when your server is going to crash and reports it weeks in advance.  Corporate Services sells contracts for support starting at $130 per hour and provides a discount for larger service contracts.
